Reflections and Hopes for 2026

4, 3, 2, 1… Happy New Year!

The countdown echoed around me at the crossover mass, and everyone cheered as 2026 began. I clapped, smiled, joined in the prayers, and let myself be part of the moment. But inside, I felt a complicated mix of things: happiness, hope, worry, and that quiet weight of wondering what comes next.

I hope 2026 is a good year, not just in big milestones or achievements, but in the small, everyday ways that shape our lives. I hope I can grow without losing myself. I hope I laugh fully, find courage when I feel small, and feel proud of the little things I accomplish. I hope solid friendships deepen, opportunities come my way, and I finally untangle some of the questions I have been carrying. I hope for clarity in confusion, patience in waiting, and calm when life refuses to follow my timeline.

Looking back, 2025 was good. Not perfect, not without hard days. There were moments I wanted to hide from the world, but there were more days that reminded me I was moving forward. Sometimes, progress isn’t dramatic; it could be a quiet step, a conversation that went better than expected, a challenge faced with courage even though I wanted to run, or a small achievement that feels huge to me even if it seems small to others.

Standing there, surrounded by prayers and songs, I whispered a small hope to myself. May 2026 be a year where effort counts, even if the results aren’t immediate. I hope it teaches me, challenges me, and surprises me in ways I can’t anticipate. I hope I notice the quiet victories, the fleeting joys, and the subtle changes that often go unrecognized.

Here’s to 2026! A year where we try, stumble, learn, laugh, and grow. A year where every step forward matters, where ordinary moments carry weight, and where persistence itself becomes a triumph. We will face challenges, yes, but we will also find moments we didn’t expect, moments that remind us why we keep going. And if we continue to show up, even imperfectly, that alone is something to be proud of.

Here’s to noticing the quiet, cherishing the small victories, and trusting that each day matters in its own way. Here’s to being human, here’s to trying, and here’s to the hope that 2026 holds growth, learning, and beautiful moments that make hard days worthwhile.

About Me

Hello! I'm Diane

I am someone who has always turned to writing to make sense of things. Especially the parts of life that feel confusing, heavy or quietly complicated.

I write about mental health, relationships, identity, faith, and the in-between seasons we often move through without much language. Most of what you will find here comes from lived experience, observation, and a habit of sitting with thoughts a little longer than most people do.

I do not write because I have the answers. I write because it helps me understand myself, other people and the world around me. Writing gives me the space to slow down and to say things honestly, without needing to tidy them up. Some of what I write is still in the process of becoming, and I am comfortable letting it be that way.

Thoughts on Ink is where those reflections live. If you are drawn to writing that feels thoughtful, unhurried and real, I am glad you are here.
