What is “tomorrow?” I dare ask. And no, I’m not looking for a generic “the day after today” response. Make it more personal and keep the answer to yourself. If we are honest with ourselves, we all have stories about the tomorrows we dreamed about that never came to be. I certainly have a lot of those!
Ever been stuck in the seemingly endless loop of “I’ll do it tomorrow, today is already far gone to do anything?” Well I have, and I can say for a fact that it is a black hole that can suck you in. One day, you will wake up and realize that your tomorrows have graduated into over-morrows with nothing to show for it.
I was a procrastinator who always landed back in the same pit I’d dug myself into until I consciously decided to do better. It is not an inhibition I have entirely conquered but now I have become more conscious about it. Once in a while, I slip up but only very shortly. I have developed a mindset that insists on being determined to do better.
Because I cannot afford not to.
For me, tomorrow in this context is a day that never arrives. You cannot afford to be stuck in the uncertainty that it brings with it.
People procrastinate either due to a fear of the unknown or the absence of motivation. When you say you will do something and repeatedly fail to do so, your reputation also takes a negative hit. Procrastination converts your seconds into hours in the blink of an eye. The sad truth is that we do not see our actions as procrastination until it becomes a habit. And we realize we are still in the same spot, filled with regrets over wasted time that will never be regained.
If you stick around with me on this page, I am going to bully you into becoming better. I am going to be up in your business until you spring into action and chase your dreams. I have had supportive friends do this to me and I am going to pay it forward.
You have a course to pursue? Do it now! Do you have an idea to pitch? What are you waiting for? You have skills to learn? Develop them now! Your “now” is the time you have to make an impact, so get up already!
