On today’s category of Talent feature, we showcase this amazing piece on the struggle with bad habits:
There’s a monster I harbour within,
I beckoned on him just once
And now he’s trapped in me.
I hate to answer his calls
Because his demands are a record
of my greatest mistakes.
Where he lives I can’t fathom;
In my head or in my mind,
Sometimes he draws his strength
from my eyes.
He’s been fed and nurtured for years.
Today, I starved and tried to
lock him out for hours.
But I was struck with a great yearning
for his presence.
I hated the guilt he brought with him,
But I loved the thrills that I got from him.
This monster is feasting from within;
How do I tell him I’m tired of him?
