An absolute given in life is that people will come and go. Sadly, we don’t have the power to control this sure trajectory.
It can be hard to let go especially if the person had a home in your heart. But sometimes, love turns sour and becomes a thorn. Or fate deals a cruel blow and you have to accept that they are not coming back.
The heartbreak, pain, and anguish will come and everything around you will serve as a constant reminder of their presence. We can either choose to get swallowed up by the pain of their absence in our lives. Or cherish the fond memories made and find the strength to move on.
Because at the end of the day, our world they left is ours to continue living. And we owe it to ourselves to not just exist, but live, laugh, and love again.
In today’s category of Talent Feature, we showcase this amazing piece that explores loss and the emotions that come with it.
After the tears, I hope our eyes will be open enough to see that we are enough on our own and there is beauty in the world. Because love will come knocking again and someone deserving of your love will fight hard to stay.
And you left just like you said.
Did you turn to see your trails?
You left with the life you brought.
Our vase is now a heap of Earth,
Our bellflowers wilted from lack of love
They refused to thrive on my love alone.
Something is lost in the air I breathe,
a fragrance that came with your presence;
That filled my lungs and stirred up cravings.
Now my tears blur away the hues,
The blue from the sky and white from the cloud.
The green from grasses, red from roses.
Each day never seems to come to an end,
as my clock has ceased to forge ahead.
For day and night do not have a line-
The sun announces a new day without you,
the moon reminds me my bed is empty.
Did you turn to see your trails?
If you had turned for one last glance.
You’d have seen darkness on the trails,
On the trails, you left behind. Deep darkness-
For you were my rain, sun, and air.
