Thankful

It just dawned on me that this will officially be the last article for the year 2020. I’ve decided I’ll make this one of gratitude, and so, this short piece is dedicated to you, my wonderful readers.

Everyone has days when they feel down. Days when a feeling of unfulfilment comes down so very heavily. Even successful people we look up to.  Especially after the year we have been through.

In those moments, I hope we remember to celebrate the wins we have snagged since the beginning of the year. So, I choose to celebrate the launch of my website as a major win this year.

In the midst of an uncertain year, my writing has paved open doors of opportunities for me in ways that I never thought possible. And this would not have been possible without you. Yes, every one of you who has clicked a link, tweeted about an article excerpt, sent an encouraging text, shared a piece, and commented on the site regarding the pieces I have written. For this, I am grateful, and I share my hopes for us all in the paragraphs below:

In the spirit of the coming year, I hope we find reasons to be thankful, no matter how trivial they may seem. But finding reasons isn’t enough. I hope we learn to remind ourselves on the days we are not feeling up to it.

If you are reading this, bask in the euphoria of being alive and be grateful for this priceless gift. With renewed hope, let us believe that the next year will be much better than this one.

I hope we consciously decide to stop comparing ourselves to others. The only comparison you are allowed to have is comparing the “you” of yesterday to the “you” of today with the confidence of finding a better version. After all, Oprah could not have put it better when she said “Be thankful for what you have, and you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”.

I’ll end with this quote by Amy Collete, “gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It is the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul”. Don’t wait for anyone to do this for you. Light that fire beginning from today, and watch it illuminate your 2021 with rays of positivity.

Thank you once again for being with me on this journey. With a thankful heart, I wish you all a Happy New Year in advance! See you in 2021.
