My last post for the Year 2020 focused on gratitude, and I still feel the same way, even as I pen this down. I feel lucky to see the New Year, and I am grateful for it. I welcome it with open arms because I am hopeful that things will get better.
Scrolling through my timeline and social media, I noticed the scarcity of New Year Resolution posts. Obviously, the events of last year seem to have crippled some of us and held us back from daring to dream or be hopeful for better outcomes.
But should this be the case? I cannot help but wonder.
We were so quick to send prayers and messages of goodwill to friends and family on the 1st of January but did we believe the words contained in them? Or perhaps, we just randomly copied, pasted, and sent them in response to messages received.
Regardless of that, I wish we would not lose sight of our dreams and aspirations and understand that we have another golden opportunity to take giant strides in achieving them.
This is a message of hope. Without hope, the very essence of life would be sucked out. 2021 will be a year with gigantic leaps of faith, especially in those moments when things are not as predictable as we may like.
Sometimes, I try to imagine how life would be if everyone had jaded thoughts. If everyone believed that nothing will work out fine or that the worst of the worst was lurking around the corner. Just imagine how dead and lifeless the world would be.
This is not the world I would want for my unborn children, and you shouldn’t either. Regardless of what 2020 represented, we must hold on to the hope that 2021 will not be more of the same. And we must take steps to actualize that.
If you are reading this, I pray that this post lights up that spark in you to want more, and to push yourself to get what you want, despite the disappointments of last year. I pray that your dreams do come true and that you receive positive news that changes your point of view.
I came across a beautiful quote by Laini Taylor that reinforced my perspective and gave me a deeper understanding of hope: “Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.”
Hello 2021, please bring some magic our way and be good to us all. Happy new year!
